Oh, those Game Show Hosts

There have been quite a few televised game shows and game show hosts over the years.

I did a quick research and was surprised to find over 250 names on this list of game show hosts . (these game shows aired in the United States).

Did you know Who Do You Trust? was a game show hosted by Johnnie Carson hosted with Ed McMahon as announcer before their Tonight Show gig?

And, Carmen Electra hosted a game show called Singled Out. This game has lots of players.

And, William Shatner hosted Show Me the Money.
This game show showcased twelve Million Dollar Dancers. You can even catch Mr. Shatner 'cuttin' a rug'.  There's lots of dancing in this game show.
The contestant answers a question then chooses a dancer and asks the dancer to Show Me the Money! There's big money in play in this game show.

Remember Mike Wallace, Walter Conkite and Hugh Downs?
They were former game show hosts.

My favorite game show hosts-Allen Ludden
                                                Chuck Barris
                                                Art Fleming
                                        and, Bill Cullen.

I don't think game shows can be brought up without mentioning Merv Griffith.
Mr. Griffith started as a singer before being involved in creating game shows.
He started on a game show called Play Your Hunch, produced by Mark Goodson and Bill Todman Productions.

And, it wouldn't be right to forget the announcers of The Price is Right. "Come on down!" My favorite announcer was Johnny Olson, who was the announcer on over 30 game shows and was the very first announcer on the Price is Right.

There's even a Game Show Network, devoted to nothing but game shows-old and new.The newest game show, Hellevator, was added to the GSN lineup and it's hosted by the Soska sisters.
This game is in the horror game show category.

Here's a listing of game shows (past and current) airing on American television.
(This listing includes panel games, dating/relationship games, kids, teens and college games, reality games and games aired specific to certain regions or States).

Game shows remain popular because you never know what will be said while watching the hosts conduct contestants through challenges or questions playing a game to win or lose money. The contestants have no scripts and the outcome of their choices can make them either game winners or losers.

Play on!
