What is Kratom?

From the forests of Southeast Asia, the leaves of the Kratom tree have been used to help with a number of ailments, such as pain.   

In researching Kratom, Mitragyna Sepciosa, a tree native to Southeast Asia. It's been known for years by the locals and utilized for relieving pain and other health conditions. The leaves of this tree contain high concentrations of alkaloids which when ingested produce analgesic effects. Strains such as Red Borneo. In essence, Kratom possesses anti-inflammatory properties and it's a natural opioid.

The Drug Enforcement Administration wanted to classify Kratom as a Schedule 1 drug.

Opioid vs Opiate - The terms opiate and opioid can be confusing as they are often used interchangeably or incorrectly. The term opiate refers to any substance that is derived naturally from the opium poppy plant. The term opioid however is broader and refers to any substance that is synthesized from an opiate that produces similar effects. This means while all opiates are opioids, not all opioids are opiates.


Kratom is also used for other conditions to ease symptoms- fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety, headaches, arthritis, multiple sclerosis and more because these conditions stem from inflammation.


Kratom is banned in some States.
